A Mostly Uneventful Sea Day
We met an interesting couple in the suites lounge last night who turned out to be from Round Rock! They were Nigerian, but have lived there for 30 years. This is their third transatlantic cruise.
Then we enjoyed dinner at Izumi, the Japanese restaurant on the top deck. We managed to take photos of our appetizers and desserts, but were apparently too excited by our entrees, so forgot. We started with some tempura and dumplings, all wonderful.
Dessert was two kinds of mochi, mango and green tea, and our server also insisted we try the green tea ice cream.
Our main course included a spicy, crispy shrimp roll, a champagne lobster roll, a snow crab & salmon dynamite roll, and chicken teriyaki. I don’t think we left a morsel. Our server was very proud.
The water remains very calm; fingers crossed that it stays that way! We walked again this morning, “7.4 miles.” Yes, we still find confusing our watches amusing. We went to the suites lounge to cool down and saw two couples who are frequently there playing cards non-stop, as well as a few solitary readers.
I worked on my Duolingo lessons while Charlie went to the casino. Shortly before we were to meet for lunch, he texted a picture of his slot machine showing winnings.
Rachel texted later, “It’s very special to get texts from the casino while you’re in church.” Needless to say, he hurriedly cashed in (but had to complete IRS paperwork) and stashed his winnings in the safe in our suite.
We enjoyed a very nice, if a tad too leisurely lunch at Giovanni’s. We had salads and calamari, then Charlie had broiled garlic prawns and I had chicken piccata. We virtuously skipped dessert.
Charlie napped while I knitted and watched a show, so that’s pretty much what we do at home in the afternoon! Today there are some Cinco de Mayo events, and dinner in the main dining room will have that theme. I haven’t had a margarita yet today, so must remedy that soon!
Tonight the time one moves ahead another hour, so we’ll be two hours ahead of most of you readers. Stay tuned!

I love the food descriptions and photos! Keep it up! Glad you tried Izumi. It’s one of our favorites (Rachel)
