Day 10 Report
Being five hours ahead of most of my (admittedly few) readers is odd! We were about to head to lunch today when Rachel texted about making breakfast. And I was just invited to a Zoom meeting (for church) at 7:15 p.m. next week. Nope! So far, the time changes haven’t affected us too much. We have two more, on Days 12 and 13, I think.
Last night’s dinner in the main dining room wasn’t especially thrilling, but it was nicely served, and we enjoyed talking to the couple next to us. I had baked potato soup, followed by “fried chicken,” which appeared to be breaded bites globbed together to resemble a chicken breast. Not sure what they were thinking! Dessert was apple crumble, with about 75% crumble. Oh, well, can’t win ‘em all. However, Charlie loved his fish curry so much that he ordered a second one.
We walked the deck this morning again, and Charlie had another stint in the casino. He has played enough for a free cruise now, and someone just delivered a bottle of wine, compliments of the casino. Who knew I’d married such a lucky guy?
We had lunch in the main dining room, where they’d put the two-tops so close together that we were almost in the laps of our neighbors. Luckily, they were both interesting couples, particularly the one spending this year as international pet sitters. Yep, that’s a new one for me, too. They stay in people’s homes for free and care for their pets while they’re out of town. They’ve been all over, even Australia. Maybe some of my readers would like to look into that opportunity! They’re headed to Budapest next.
We have now travelled 3600 nautical miles and are due into the port at Ponta Delgado about breakfast time tomorrow. It will be good to get off the ship for a bit! We have an excursion to the Village of Sete Cidades and wine tasting in the afternoon. So tomorrow’s post will be later than usual.
Tonight’s dinner will be at Chops Grille, and we are looking forward to that meal. Thanks for your comments! I’ve replied to them on that post.

Johnny has a fraternity brother who does international pet sitting/house sitting. His wife teaches French, sponsors trips to France, etc, so she’s quite fluent. They’ve stayed several weeks in really nice homes, make friends the neighbors and just become a part of the village. They love dogs, so they are much in demand.
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I’d never heard of that “job,” but it’s a great idea!
DeleteNot a job, but a fun way to do retirement!
