Day 9 Update

Last night’s dinner at Giovanni’s did not disappoint! We’ve decided it’s our favorite specialty restaurant on this ship. We both had the arugula salad, then I ordered the Pasta Bolognese, which was really delicious. Charlie raved about his beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes and broccolini, saying it was much better than the steak at Chops Grille. But the superstar was the dessert, chocolate-hazelnut cake. Here’s the menu description:  praline custard, chocolate mousse, Frangelico ganache, and caramelized hazelnuts. SOOOO good!

Charlie had another spectacular casino visit, requiring more IRS paperwork. I told him to stop before he vaults us into a higher tax bracket!  Meanwhile, I’m trying to master the imperfect tense in Duolingo and starting the heel of my socks.

Last night Charlie captured this video of the smaller pool sloshing from the ship’s movement.

For last night’s time zone change, we had to set our devices to Ittoqqortoormiit, Greenland time!

This morning we were able to resume our walking on the deck, as the wind and waves have calmed down. We spent time in the suites lounge, and went to lunch in the Windjammer, as we needed salads after the aforementioned excesses. It was pretty quiet, because the main dining room was offering brunch again.

Tonight we’re going to an early show (the Royal Caribbean Singers) so we’re going to order dinner from the main dining room delivered to our cabin.

Sorry we’ve fallen down on the photos! The view from our balcony hasn’t changed in days! Here’s a look at our current location. We have sailed 3200 nautical miles so far!

Tonight we move ahead ANOTHER hour, so add five hours to CDT. More tomorrow!

  1. That pool video is crazy! Are they keeping people from swimming?

    1. The main pool was drained for a couple of days, but this was the sports pool.

  2. A++ paragraph: "Charlie had another spectacular casino visit, requiring more IRS paperwork. I told him to stop before he vaults us into a higher tax bracket! Meanwhile, I’m trying to master the imperfect tense in Duolingo and starting the heel of my socks."

  3. Wow, that dessert! Just the photo had me drooling. Those waves are crazy. You haven’t mentioned any seasickness, but those waves are probably making some feel queasy. (Leigh)

    1. Barcelona! We have a few days there, then board another ship for the Mediterranean.

  5. It seems like y'all aren't missing Coastal Kitchen too much?

    1. We do miss it, but the three specialty places help, and it has been interesting to try the main dining room. Our next two ships have Coastal Kitchens.
