We only had one small glitch in boarding the Oasis this morning. We had a lovely breakfast at the hotel, and our driver picked us up at 10:00 as expected. Traffic to the port was slow due to construction, but we got to the terminal and handed off our bags to a porter. When we entered the terminal, though, we were told we needed to be in Terminal C, not B, if we wanted to board with the suite passengers (i.e., faster). So, we had a bit of a hike to Terminal C, but at least we only had our backpacks to lug. Amazingly, there was no one ahead of us to check in, so we sailed through that brief process and were on board quickly. We dutifully reported to our muster station on deck 6, then headed to the Solarium and opened the bar. I had the now-traditional piƱa colada, and Charlie had some Prosecco.
Here are some photos from our muster station deck, for Emily and Sydney, especially. I wonder how many times Sydney would ride the carousel?
As noon approached, we headed down to deck 8, where Central Park is located. We had reservations for lunch at Giovanni’s Table. We sat at a patio table, which made for great people-watching.
We both had the arugula salad to start, then I had the eggplant Parmesan, and Charlie the seafood pasta. He also got the chocolate-hazelnut cake.
By the time we’d finished, our suite was ready. We again have a loft suite, which feels very spacious.
We quickly unpacked, and after meeting our cabin attendants, we headed to the suites lounge, just down the hall. Charlie took this photo of Barcelona from there, and it includes the Sagrada Familia church we toured.
Our ship leaves for our first port, Mallorca, about 5:30 p.m. Here’s a map of our destinations for this cruise.
We are happy to be on board a ship with a Coastal Kitchen, where we plan to have dinner each night. The menu changes daily. More after our excursion in Mallorca tomorrow! We’re doing a bus tour and wine tasting along the north coast.
What an amazing room! And yay for CK!
