Friday, Sea Day #2

One of my loyal fans (who shall remain anonymous, unless you read  comments) seemed unimpressed with our cuisine choices yesterday. I should explain that our suite entitles us to order anything from the main dining room to be delivered, not just the limited room service menu. Last night was a formal night, with a special menu. We didn’t want to get dressed up, so we ordered the French onion soup, the roasted beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and the cappuccino chocolate cake delivered. It arrived in 20 minutes, and we enjoyed it immensely!

This ship (Voyager) is an older one, with only three specialty restaurants, Chops Grille, Giovanni’s Table, and Izumi. We have reservations at all three, but will also use the main dining room occasionally.

This morning we walked on the track around the deck long enough that our watches were convinced we’d walked 9.7 miles!  We also spent time in the suites lounge, which we had all to ourselves for a while. The view from the “crown” of the ship is expansive.

Charlie went to the casino before lunch, and as there was a chance to win a free cruise on the slot machines, he decided to try it. He didn’t win the cruise (yet), but he did win $1000!

Lunch was back at Chops Grille, where we both chose the jumbo shrimp cocktail and the Caesar salad topped with a filet. We couldn’t manage dessert. We sat next to two interesting couples, both of whom are staying on our ship for the Mediterranean cruise out of Barcelona.

At the moment we can see the Mariner of the Seas on the horizon, as well as a container ship. We are due south of Florida, heading for the Bahamas tomorrow. In Nassau, we’re taking an Island Food and Culinary Insight tour, which should be right up our alley.

Thanks to all who have commented! It’s nice to know you’re playing along at home!

  2. I love that the ship is not crowded at all! And I also love how your watches are giving you credit for epic workouts. :-) Enjoy your Saturday!
