Thursday, Sea Day #1

Today is the first of two sea days spent en route to Nassau.  We’ve already moved our clocks ahead an hour and will do that periodically as we cross the Atlantic. Nice to avoid jet lag!

Yesterday we went to the suites lounge for Happy Hour and were surprised that it wasn’t very crowded. We met two couples, one from Oklahoma and another from outside Dallas.  Dinner was at Giovanni’s Table, one of three specialty restaurants on the Voyager. I had a very good caprese salad, followed by osso bucco served over a cheesy polenta, which was delicious! Charlie had an arugula salad and the seafood linguine. The server insisted we try a little of the mushroom and mascarpone risotto, and it WAS wonderful. We shared a small dish of gelato for dessert.

When we returned from dinner, we found a third armchair in our living room, which made it feel crowded.  Apparently, someone else ditched one of theirs, so the steward stashed it in here! We asked to have it removed this morning, and our steward explained that some people like extra seating for all the friends they make while traveling! We can already seat seven comfortably, so I think we’re good.

This morning we walked around and around on Deck 4 to get some exercise. Since we alternated walking with and against the ship’s movement, our watches got confused and kept asking if we’d finished our workouts. And given how far the ship traveled as we walked, we got credit for a really long walk in just 30 minutes!

We spent an hour or so in the suites lounge this morning, and we enjoyed the expansive view of the water.  I worked on my knitting, but others were playing cards, etc.

We opted for lunch in the Windjammer, vowing to have salads to avoid overeating like we did on the last cruise. They have an excellent salad bar, so we didn’t feel deprived. Tonight we are planning to get room service from the main dining room for dinner, so I’ll report back tomorrow!

Thanks for reading!
