Entering Lisbon

We were up at our usual time, but scrambled to throw on clothes right away so we could capture our arrival in Lisbon from the Solarium at the front of the ship. The 25 de Abril bridge, constructed in the 1960s, connects Lisbon with a neighboring town, Almada, across the Tagus River.  The upper level carries six lanes of cars, and there are train tracks below. Here are the best photos we took as we approached the bridge.

Here’s a short video showing a train, if you look closely!

In this photo you can see the imposing statue of Christ on the Almada side of the bridge.

After we passed under the bridge, I took this one.

I took a few photos of our view from our balcony just before we docked.

I will post later — probably tomorrow -  about out time off the ship here.

  2. I was struck by the very jazzy music in the Solarium (in the video of the train going across the bridge). That would’ve been a little early in the morning for “Funky Town”, at least for me! Can’t wait to hear about your Lisbon adventures.
