Pre-Sailaway Report: New England and Canada Cruise
Yesterday morning we boarded our plane to Newark at 5:40 a.m. Given that EARLY departure, we stayed at the Marriott at IAH the night before. The hotel had train service from the lower lobby directly to our terminal (one stop!).
Once we were in our plane seats, the attendant offered mimosas. At 5:46 a.m.? Why not? She didn't get a lot of takers, so she gave me a second one before takeoff. After we were in the air, we had a nice, pre-ordered breakfast of egg bites with sausage, fruit, and croissant. I finished one book and started another before landing.
Since we couldn't get into our hotel until 1:00, we hung out in the United club for quite a while, but it was very comfortable, with a nice view. The airport Marriott had a shuttle, which we took to the hotel. We were both ready for naps at that point!
We enjoyed drinks and dinner downstairs, then went to bed early (even for us!).
This morning we had a free breakfast in the lounge, then a car picked us up at 10 for the trip to the cruise terminal at Cape Liberty. We dropped our bags (one small carry-on each) and went inside for the suites check-in, which was fast, with no line. We sat for about five minutes, then they let us board the ship.
After checking in with our muster station, we went to the Crown Lounge -- the first people in there -- and grabbed comfy chairs with great views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. Prosecco was enjoyed!
Here's one Charlie took of the kids' area for Emily and Sydney to see.
We had a lovely lunch at Chops -- mushroom soup, followed by a Caesar salad topped with a filet for me, and the same for Charlie, except his salad had shrimp. Our suite was ready by that point, so we have unpacked and are glad not to deal with suitcases for a while.
Tonight we're having dinner at Sabor, a new-to-us Royal Caribbean Mexican-themed restaurant. Tomorrow is a Sea Day, then Saturday we'll stop in Boston.

Yay! So glad you're posting again. I am doing homework and very jealous!
