Embarkation Day for the Queen Mary 2

We flew to Newark yesterday, which went smoothly after an hour+ delay waiting for a flight attendant arriving on another delayed plane. Oddly, the meal in first class (served at 11:30) was breakfast. Oh, well. We claimed our luggage, then took a taxi to an Embassy Suites nearby.  We had a nice suite on the top floor with a great view of the departures. After checking the menu downstairs (and claiming our free drinks), we opted to walk to the Ruby Tuesday just across the street for dinner.

We had a leisurely morning, with breakfast in the hotel, then a car picked us up at 11:00 to drive to the Brooklyn Terminal.

Check-in was swift, and we were seated with the others in Princess class.  I chatted with a couple from England who had just spent 8 days in NYC.  Lots of different British accents surrounded us!  We began boarding about 12:30.

Just a glimpse of the iconic bellboy uniform

We reported to our muster station, then headed to lunch in the Princess Grill. We were assigned a two-top that will be ours for all meals.  Of course, we may opt to eat elsewhere for some meals.

For lunch, I started with lamb kebabs, while Charlie chose the vegetable soup.  Both were excellent!

We each had a Caesar salad with slices of smoked chicken (not pictured), then yummy desserts of chocolate sponge with ice cream and lemon tart.

Our stateroom was ready at 1:15, so we headed there after lunch. We’re on deck 10.  I took a video of our stateroom, but it’s too large to post. Maybe I can edit it and post it later. Here are some photos instead.

Here are our balcony views from the port.
Statue of Liberty!

Sail away is at 4:30, so we’re heading out to our balcony with the champagne we found on ice in our stateroom!
