Sea Day #1 of Many
Yesterday we tried the suites lounge again about 4:30, and it was jam-packed, with no seating. We got drinks from the bar and returned to our cabin. The ship clearly isn’t able to accommodate so many Pinnacles along with us suite people!
For appetizers, I had a great beet salad with balls of goat cheese rolled in herbs, crispy prosciutto, and candied walnuts. Charlie chose the crispy pork belly.
We had an excellent dinner at 150 Central Park, definitely the best meal on a ship in a while. We tried their signature cocktail, the Urban Garden, involving vodka, lemon grass, basil, and cucumber, and it was very refreshing.
Note that we got the “throne” chairs! (They often feature in Royal Caribbean YouTube vlogs.)

My main dish was pan-seared halibut with warm potato salad and truffle hollandaise. Charlie opted for the lobster Thermidor.

And for dessert, we both had to get the famous fried cheesecake, which includes Nutella, whipped cream, and caramel popcorn. It’s delicious!
This morning we managed to sleep until 6:30, the earliest time that coffee is available. We took an exercise walk around the lower decks, which weren’t crowded at that hour. At 10:00, I went to the crafting group, which was great fun! Kim, a crocheter who organized a group last fall on our transpacific cruise, was there, so we caught up a bit, and I chatted with several other interesting people, including a young flight attendant. We’ll meet every sea day.
While I was knitting and chatting, Charlie found a good machine in the casino and quintupled his bet! He’s smart enough to know it was time to leave! We met for lunch at Chops Grille, another restaurant in the Central Park neighborhood. We didn’t take photos because we’ve eaten there so much and my devoted readers have seen every dish! I ordered a Caesar salad topped with a filet, with some mac and cheese on the side. Charlie had the shrimp cocktail, then the gruyere burger with fries and asparagus. No dessert!
Our plan for avoiding weight gain was (note verb tense) to skip bread and desserts, BUT the garlic buns at Jamie’s and the pretzel rolls at Chops are hard to resist! Tonight’s dinner is at Izumi. They don’t offer bread, and we can resist their desserts! Thanks for reading!

That halibut looks ah-mazing!! And the drink sounds delish too. I wonder if your crafting group will grow over time?
