Thursday was nice and sunny after all of Wednesday's rain, with temps in the low 50s as we set out on our walk up to the Oxford Street shopping area. There were some beautiful flowers that caught my eye as we walked along.
We went to Marks & Spencer, a department store with a full grocery store on the basement level. We bought a few provisions there to take onto the ship tomorrow. After browsing a bit and some window-shopping, we made our way back towards the hotel to a bakery, where we bought ham and cheese toasties for a light-ish lunch (at least compared with other recent meals!)
After his seminar, Thomas came to our hotel for Happy Hour in our suite and we enjoyed talking with him. We walked just a short distance to Tamarind, a very nice Indian restaurant that Thomas found. We decided to choose their gourmet tasting menu, and it was a good decision! (All photos courtesy of Thomas)
Charlie and I started with ghee-washed old fashioneds, which were excellent, and Thomas chose a cocktail that he enjoyed, though I didn't catch the name of it. Note the lime peel attached with a tiny clothespin!
The first course was a take on Indian street food, served on a crispy shell.
We started the next course before we remembered to take a photo, but it consisted of chicken tikka and coconut-chili seabass, both very tasty.
Next was crispy lobster with a chili glaze -- SO good!
Next we were served delicious lamb chops, along with dal, prawn curry, and rice.
And finally, the dessert was a chocolate-hazelnut praline bar. We all managed to polish ours off!
We told Thomas goodbye after dinner and did a little packing before bedtime. We probably won't see him again until mid-January, so it was good to hug him and see that he's enjoying his study abroad experience.
This morning (Friday), we're finishing up our packing and will head down to meet our driver at 10:30 for the drive to Southampton. We have been there a few times now, so have favorite lunch and dinner restaurants. And tomorrow, we will board Liberty of the Seas! Tomorrow's post may be up later in the day, after we have access to our suite. Thanks for following along!
